On Nov. 7, 2006, after 77 years of a meaningful life and 49 years of fulfilling his calling, Pastor James Poe left this world to enter into the presence of his Lord.

He spent the majority of his life preaching and teaching people about the God he loved. The many people who were impacted by his life thru the years are too numerous to count.

He will be missed by a host of friends, but his absence will be especially felt by the family he cared so much about.  They include his wife and best friend of 56 years, Conna Poe; his children, Alan Poe, Steve Poe, Annitta Robinson and Annette McLeod; those who joined the family through the years and were treated as his own- Darcel Poe, Nancy Poe, Steve Robinson, Tom McLeod and A.J. Hanson; his grandchildren that meant so much to him- Sarah Poe, Stephen Poe, Benjamin Poe, Allison Poe, Lauren Poe, Chelsea Poe, Leanne McLeod Hanson, Andrea McLeod, and his great-granddaughter, Haley Monet Rawlings. Also, he will be missed by his brothers, Ted Poe and David Poe.

Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Curry Funeral Home, 2097 Childress Rd., Alum Creek.  Burial will be in the Bryan Family Cemetery.  Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

JULIAN _ A Lincoln County man apparently killed his wife and himself Tuesday in a gas station parking lot near Julian, Boone County, police said.

Averial G. Miller, 33, of Griffithsville, apparently shot his estranged wife, Joyce E. Miller, 30, while they sat in her Chevrolet Blazer in a gas station parking lot on W.Va. 3 about one mile west of Julian about 11:45 p.m., said Chief Deputy Clarence Price of the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Mrs. Miller was shot in the head, arm and stomach and Miller was shot in the temple, Price said.

Mrs. Miller's mother found the bodies after she saw the car while driving past the parking lot, and stopped to check, Price said Joyce Miller was an employee of Park Avenue Restaurant, Danville, and was a member of Sycamore Grove Baptist Church, Alkol Surviving: son, Larry, at home; daughter, Rachel at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Abbott of Alkol; sister, Kathleen McCallister of Alkol; brothers, Freddy and Joe Abbott, of Alkol, Stanley Abbott of Sod; grandfather, Orville Roberts of Alkol.
