Jackie Page Huffman, 72, of Julian went home to be with the Lord Nov. 22, 2005, at home after a battle of cancer.

She was born Dec. 28, 1933, the daughter of the late Raymond and Orita Page.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Tyler and Ethel Cook; and one brother, Grant Page.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was an avid crafter, loved to quilt and crochet.  She belonged to a quilting club for many years while living in New York.  She was a volunteer for Boone Memorial Hospital since she came back to West Virginia 15 years ago.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Claude Huffman;  two sons, Randy Huffman and his wife, Linda, of Churchville, N.Y. and Bruce Huffman of Julian;  one daughter, Peggy Huffman of Julian;  three grandchildren, David Huffman, Jody Stacey and her husband, Ricky, and Holley Barker and her husband, Kevin;  three great-grandchildren, six year old MacKenzie, three year old William, and four month old Allie;  one brother, Raymond Page of Little Rock, Ark.;  and two sisters, Betty Elkins of Julian and Frances Gunnoe of Zephyr Hills, Fla.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Chuck Gillispie officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Buster Sigmon, 80, of Independence, died Thursday at his home.

He was a self-employed brick contractor, a member of Brick Layers Union Local No. 18&2 and Big Bone Baptist Church, Union, and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth King Sigmon; a son, Rusty Sigmon of Independence; daughters, Rena Scalf and Judy Ginn, both of Independence, and Jeanine Marcum of Walton; brothers, Maxwell Sigmon of Silver Grove and Claude Sigmon of Gulfport, Miss.; sisters, Opal Peters and Peggy Ballard, both of Huntington, W.Va., Mary Noble of Lakeland, Fla., Eileen Eastep of Crescent, Pa., and Dorothy Seldridge of Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Born in Madison, W.Va., on July 2, 1925, Mrs. Noble came to Lakeland from Huntington, W.Va., in 1965.  She was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Holiness Church in Huntington, W.Va.

He was an employee of Union Carbide with 37 years of service, retiring as a maintenance supervisor in 1979.  He was a member of the Church of God, where he help positions as a Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and a board member.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mellie and Effie McCormick; brother, Dorsel; and a sister, Myrtle Banks.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Ruby; sons, Ray of Charlotte, N.C., R. Frederick and wife, Vera, of South Charleston; daughter, Beverly and husband, Robert O. Cavender of Largo, Fla.; grandchildren, Susan Verhaalen and fiancée, Craig King, of Charlotte, N.C., Derrick Johns of Winchester, Ky., Debbie Vance and husband, Don, of Lexington, Ky., Rob Cavender and wife, Susan, of Gambrills, Md., Greg Cavender and wife, Tammy, of Excello, Mo.; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Bernie and wife, Ada, Rexford, Herbert and wife, Sharyan; and sisters, Revel Smith, Edna Baker, Lavern Bonhague, Glenna Anderson and Anna Lois Hodges and husband, Lee.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

She was born in Yawkey on March 30, 1921, the daughter of the late Ross and Flossie Vickers.&ensp Edith was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church at Yawkey, where she served as church clerk, treasurer, Sunday school teacher, V.B.S. and Christmas play director for years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dell Kingrey; sisters, Juanita Moore and Iva Jean Linville.

Surviving sons: James Michael (Sue) and Philip Dell (Dreama) all of Alum Creek; 3 Grandchildren: Scottie, Todd and Kristin Kingrey; and 2 Great Grandchildren: Jamie and Elizabeth Kingrey.

He was born in Yawkey on August 20, 1921, the son of the late Jehue and Lura Craddock Kingrey.  Dell was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church at Yawkey for 64 years, where he served as a trustee for 24 years.  He was also caretaker and trustee of Mays Cemetery since 1954 and retired from Armco Steel/Peabody Coal with 42 years of service.

Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Nona Linville, Nina Adams, Martha Hill, Gladys Hamm, and Norma Humphrey; and brother, Glen Kingrey.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith Vickers Kingrey; two sons, James Michael and wife Sue, and Phillip Dell and wife Dreama, all of Alum Creek; three grandchildren, Scottie, Todd and Kristin Kingrey; and two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Elizabeth Kingrey.

The service will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 28, in the Curry Funeral Home Chapel at Alum Creek with Pastors Oshel Bell and Henry Estep officiating.  Burial will be in the Mays Cemetery at Yawkey.

Finley O. Pettit, Jr, 90, of Dunbar died Monday, March 12, 2012, at his home.

He was retired from the Department of Highways for the State of West Virginia.  He was a 70-year member of Southridge Church of God, where he taught Sunday school, managed church basketball teams and played softball, baseball and basketball.  He managed Little League baseball in Dunbar for many years.  He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge 25, Charleston; a member of Masonic Lodge 159, Dunbar; a member of the 95th Division of Patton's 3rd Army; and an ex-POW from 1944 to 1945 in Germany.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judi Kim; and parents, Gladys and Finley Pettit.

Surviving are his lovely wife of 68 years, Arlene Hill Pettit; son, Finley "Skip" Pettit III and his wife, Susan, of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Juanita Davis of Miami, Fla, and Doris "Bobbie" Waters of Murray, Ky.; grandchildren, Andrew Kim, Angela Davis, Jason Pettit, Dr. Michael Kim and Maeghan Adams; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Alex Davis, Van Kim and May Lynn Adams; four nephews; and six nieces.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Southridge Church of God with Pastor V.P. Palmer and Pastor Robert Underwood officiating.  Burial will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

In the late 1940's, she first sang with the Linville Quartet, consisting of Melba and her brothers, Ford, Clarkie and Jim Linville.  She later sang with the Cooper Family, a group she helped form with her sister and brother-in-law, Fred and Helena Cooper, the group was later renamed Saved by Grace. In the later years she sang with her brothers, Gary and Jim Linville, and her sister, Helena Cooper.  They mostly sang at funerals, including Helen's funeral in 1997.

She was a member of the Left Fork Church, Alkol.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Collie Estep Jr.; parents, Sesco and Icy Linville; stepmother, Mary Peter Linville; two brothers, Ford and Clarkie Linville; three sisters, Bessie Linville, Reba Phipps and Helena Cooper.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Ronnie and Christy Linville of Alkol, and Bobby and Jan Estep of Tornado; two daughters, and their husbands, Kathy and Mike Vickers of Alkol, and Drema and Donnie Midkiff of Griffithsville; two sisters, Odessa Holley of Julian, and Nellie Keen of Alkol; four brothers, Gary and Jimmy Linville of Griffithsville, Direamous Linville of Alkol, and Doug Linville of Charlotte, Mich.; nine grandchildren and spouses, Ronna and Chris McCallister, Jamie and Kim Linville, Joey and Susan Estep, DeAnna Cooper, Karrie and Chad Newsome, Robbie Estep, Rachelle Estep, Danielle Cooper, P.J. and Kasey Vickers; and 11 great-grandchildren, Alli, Austin, Brandi, Hannah, Tanner, Abbi, Jayden, Logan, Jeremiah, Josie and Jessi.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, with Pastor Randal Kinder and the Rev. Arthur Hensley officiating.  Burial will be held in Egnor Cemetery, Bulger.

Leland 'Pig' Estep, 75, of Morrisvale went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 10, 2005, after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Collie and Brookie Estep; sisters, Mildred Collins and Eva Linville; and brothers, Bobby Estep, Collie Estep Jr., and Basil Estep.

Pig spent 40 years as a United Mine Worker, working at Westmoreland and retiring from Hobet Mining.  He was one of the founders as well as a deacon and trustee of Morrisvale Missionary Baptist Church.  He was also a former board member of the Morrisvale Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Odell Lodge No. 115 of Madison.

He is survived by his wife, Romaleta 'Scrappie' Estep; daughter and son-in-law, Rita Ann and Harold Elkins of Morrisvale; granddaughter, Stephanie Elkins, also of Morrisvale; granddaughter, Penny and her husband, Bobby Booth, of Sod; great-grandchildren, Lexi and Robby Booth of Sod; special brother-in-law, Rex Linville of Morrisvale; brothers, Rev. Henry Estep of Morrisvale, Prentus and his wife, Garnett Estep, of Drawdy, and Harry and his wife, Lawanda Estep of Cox's Fork; sisters-in-law, Aileen Estep of Winfield, Gaynelle Estep of Madison, Melba Estep of Alkol, and Loretta Elkins of Sissonville; brothers-in-law, Bill Linville of Sissonville, Dennis Linville of Morrisvale, Jerry Linville of Danville, and Corky Linville, formerly of Morrisvale; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Oshell Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Orchid Hills Cemetery, Yawkey, with a Masonic graveside service performed by Odell Lodge No. 115, Madison.
