Juanita Workman Hensley passed away on Aug. 29, 2006, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after a lengthy illness.

Born to Basil and Dorothy Linville Workman on Sept. 2, 1925, in Madison, she grew up in Madison and was a 1942 graduate of Scott High School.

She lived 75 years of her life in Madison where she was an active member and presence in Madison Methodist Church.  She loved her time as a steward in that church and she valued her many lifelong friends in both the church and town.  There are many in the Madison community who knew her as a loyal generous friend.

After her 2001 marriage to Lemuel Hensley, she moved with him to his home in Culloden and found a new community of friends and church, Hurricane First Baptist.

She is survived by her husband, Lemuel; two children, Martha Joyce Price of Seattle, Wash., and Thomas H. Copher; and a surviving brother, Tom Workman of Chesapeake, Ohio. She was also very close to her two stepchildren, Martha "Marty" Hensley and Richard "Rick" Hensley and his wife, Dianna, and their two children, Randy and John.

She will be well remembered and much missed by her family and circle of friends who feel privileged and richer to have had Juanita in their lives.

Her ashes will be interred at a graveside service at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Boone Memorial Park, Madison.  A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday at Madison United Methodist Church with Dr. Frank Frye officiating.

Friends may call one hour prior to service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

THOMAS B. WORKMAN, 85, of Chesapeake, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 17, 2012, in River's Bend Health Care, where he was a resident for the past seven years.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Union Hill Cemetery with Pastor Chuck Case officiating.  Burial will follow.

Tom was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Madison, W.Va., a son of the late Basil and Dorothy Linville Workman. He was an active member of Chesapeake United Methodist Church, a World War II Navy veteran, and received his B.B.A. from Marshall University.  Tom loved to sing and was a charter member of the Huntington Barbershop Chapter.  He was an avid golfer and played golf on the Marshall Golf team.  Shortly after attending Marshall University, he was employed by the Medical Arts Supply Company in Huntington, W.Va.  He eventually became a partner of the business before it was sold to General Medical.  He started a second career as a branch manager for the First National Bank of Chesapeake.  In 1987, he changed careers once again and purchased an insurance agency in Proctorville, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Hensley.  Tom is survived by his wife, Hazel Johnson Workman; three sons, Theodore "Ted" Workman, Mark Workman and his wife Patty, and Russell Bruce Workman; five grandchildren, Tricia, Mark II, Elizabeth, Ryan and Morgan; and two great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of River's Bend Health Care for the care, compassion and concern they showed Tom during his residency.  In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made to Hospice of Huntington or Chesapeake United Methodist Church. Lewisburg - Jack K. Bailey, 89, died Tuesday, Apr. 13, 2004, in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following an extended illness.

Born July 8, 1914, at Mahan, he was the son of the late Lyndon Overstreet Bailey and Mary Hill Bailey.

Mr. Bailey attended Beckley College, West Liberty and the University of Florida.

He was the first administrator of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine where he was the recipient of "The Distinguished Service" award.  During his career, he served as Administrator in an Ohio school, was President of Beckley Mental Health, first vice president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Administrator of Appalachian Community Regions seven, eight, and nine.

He developed vocational programs in the counties of Mercer, McDowell, and Mingo.  He was instrumental in securing funding for the Summers County Hospital.  He also sought funding for Beckley's water and sewerage programs.

Mr. Bailey served as a board member for Channel 9 Broadcasting Authority.  He headed the "Government for the People" program 16 times with former Gov. Hulett Smith.  He also wrote travel regulations for the State of West Virginia.

A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army as Battery Commander in an Anti-Aircraft Battalion.  Following his Army career, he joined the WV National Guard, retiring as a Reserved Major.

He was preceded in death by: his wife in January of 2003; three brothers, Wade, Lyndon, and Richard Bailey; and three sisters, Zada Hayes, Wilda Caldwell, and Ann Shumate.

Survivors include: son, Jack L. Bailey and wife, Marsha, of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Jacqueline Cockes of Florida; one grandson; and several nephews, nieces, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Apr. 17, in Memorial Chapel at McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg where Dr. Patricia Jarvis officiated.  Burial was in Alderson Cemetery.

Mrs. Gladys Whitten, 44, died yesterday at her home on Drawdys creek.  Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Foster Church of Christ on Rocky Creek.  Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery with Hunter and Hunter mortuary of Madison in charge.

Surviving are her husband, Cecil Whitten, five sons, Leslie in the army overseas; Cecil jr., in the Navy at Chicago, Ill., Robert, Okie and Jack, all at home; four daughters, Mrs. Claude Halstead of Foster, Mrs. Henry Pettrey, Drawdys creek, Lois and Carol, at home, and two sisters.

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Lyle "Fred" Hill, 60, of Hedgesville, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born July 30, 1944, in Manila, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lyle Malcolm and Rachel Ann Workman Hill.

He was employed by General Motors.

He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120 Loyal Order of Moose and Elks Lodge 778.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Marie Hill; one daughter, Leslie Kotch of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and one son, Thomas Hill of Martinsburg.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.  Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
