Lucy M. Egnor, 84, of Chapmanville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31. [2001] She was born June 10, 1916 at Chapmanville, a daughter of the late James and Josephine Estep Chambers.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Egnor, and one son, Ronald D. Egnor.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Egnor of Charleston and Diana Abbott of Chapmanville; seven sons, James (Billie Jean) White, Ray (Althea) Egnor, Carl Delmar Egnor, Charles Egnor, Roger Egnor and Gary Egnor, all of Chapmanville, and Harley Jr. Egnor of Danville; one sister, Julia Adkins of Chapmanville; one brother, Chester Chambers of Chapmanville; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville with Rev. James Dalton Jr. and Rev. Greg Dalton officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

•  Before I was adopted my name was Ronny Layne Egnor.  Born 1-26-46. My father was Rexford Leo Egnor.  Grandfather Roy Delbert Egnor. Greatgrandparents John & Florence Hill Egnor who had 6 sons James, Ernie, Chris, Johnny, Harley,and Roy, and 1 daughter Vada.  The only Uncle I remember is Uncle John in Griffithsville W.Va.  I believe he died in 2001.  I believe his Wife and Daughter Pauletta still live there.

THURMAN HILL, 82, of Prichard, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center.  Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 5, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the Smith Memorial Methodist Church in Prichard, W.Va.  Services will be conducted by the Rev. Cothea Workman.  Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery, Prichard, W.Va.  Thurman was a retired diesel mechanic, a member of the Prichard VFD for over 20 years and the American Legion Post 93 of Kenova for over 23 years.  He was born on July 17, 1923, in Lincoln County, W.Va., the son of the late Hansford and Verna Barker Hill.  His wife Lois Fern Hill preceded him in death.

Seward Shelton Price, Jr., 76, of Ona, WV, passed away Monday, December 13, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital.  Memorial services were conducted Wednesday, December 15, 1999 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Brent Gibson.  V.F.W. Post #1064, Huntington, conducted military graveside rites along with Minerva Lodge #13 A.F. & A.M. conducting Masonic graveside rites Thursday at the Blue Sulphur Cemetery, Ona.

He was born October 19, 1923, in Mingo County, a son of Ardath Ferrell Price of Ona, and the late Seward Shelton Price, Sr.  He was preceded in death by one brother, James F. Price.  He was owner and operator of Price Music Company, a veteran of the US Navy, having served during WVII, Past Commander of D.A.V., Life Member of the V.F.W., #1064, Huntington, American Legion #177, Barboursville, Loyal Order of Moose, #347, Huntington, Fraternal Order of Eagles, #2320, Minerva Lodge #13, A.F. & A.M. Barboursville, Guyandotte R.A.M., York Rite Huntington Commandry, Scottish Rite Valley, Huntington, Beni Kedem Shrine, Charleston, and Beni Kedem Legion of Honor, Charleston.

Also surviving are his wife, Phyllis Bailey Price; one son, Marvin Shelton Price of Ona; two brothers, Harold Kenton Price of Ona, and Clifton G. "Kip" Price of Ravenswood, WV; his grandchildren, Jason, Jami, Mattie Brooke and Celia Ann; one stepdaughter, Sharon Allman of Sumter, SC; two stepsons, Gary Hale of Salt Rock and David Hale of Idaho; step-grandchildren Nicole Hatcher, David Davidson Aaron, Emily and Natalie Hale; a special cousin Ronnie Ferrell of Ona; several nephews and his good friend, Jack Ransbottom.

Dallas Victor Hill, 83, of the Apple Grove community of Racine, Ohio, departed this life on February 23, 2004, at his home.

Dallas was born on October 3, 1920 in Letart Falls, Ohio, son of the late Albert and Eliza Ann Miller Hill.

He was a member of the Racine United Methodist Church; Owner/Operator of Dallas Hill Quality Farms; Co-owner/Operator of Arthur Hill Greenhouses; member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Masonic Lodge #461, Racine Ohio; member of the National Rifle Association; member of the American Legion Post 602, Racine, Ohio; served in the U.S. Army, Cpl with 34th Signal Company, in World War II; a lifelong and proud Republican; and was married to Donna Wolfe on October 25, 1946.

Surviving is his wife, Donna Marie Wolfe Hill, Apple Grove, Ohio; 2 daughters, Deborah Roush and her husband Marshall, East Letart Falls, Ohio, and Jannette Norris and her husband Darrell, East Letart Falls, Ohio; 2 sons, Dallas Arthur Hill, Racine, Ohio, and Dean Vance Hill, Apple Grove, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Joseph Roush, Courtney Roush Leachman, Tracy Norris Hupp, Ryan Norris, Dally Hill, Wally Hill, Dean Hill, Jr., Jane Hill Brinager, Autumn Hill, and Andee Hill; 3 great grandchildren, Baylee Hupp, Joe Joe Roush, and Jarrett Hupp; sisters-in-law, Dolores Casper, Columbus, Ohio; Katie Hill and Pauline Hill, both of Letart Falls, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Carl Wolfe and his wife Della, Middleport, Ohio; Harold Roush, Pinch, WV; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held on Thursday, February 26, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating.  Burial followed in Letart Falls Cemetery, Racine, Ohio.  Friends visited the funeral home on Wednesday, February 25, 2004, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with Masonic service provided by Racine Masonic Lodge #461 at 6:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Racine United Methodist Church, or the Meigs County Humane Society.

Crever Lewis Saul, 87, a lifelong resident of Yawkey, passed away on Jan. 10, 2005, at Marmet Health Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Humphrey Saul, and their only child, Bobby Eldon Saul.

Crever was born Oct. 13, 1917, the son of the late Everett and Liza Kingrey Saul. Shortly after graduation from Duval High School, he was employed as a pipe fitter at DuPont's Belle Plant. Later he left to form Saul Construction Inc., which served the oil and gas industry of West Virginia for more than 50 years.

He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, Yawkey, where he was Sunday school superintendent for 39 years. For over 50 years, he was a member of Griffithsville Masonic Lodge 71 AF&AM, and served on the Duval Volunteer Fire Department board of directors.

In addition to his parents, wife and son, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lester, Everett and James; and sister, Wilma Saul Swanson.

Crever was responsible for creating many cherished memories for his grandchildren who include: Leah Saul Sowards and husband, James, and Scott Eldon Saul, all of Yawkey, Lesly Danielle Saul of Brunswick, Ga., James "Jamie" Saul of Yawkey and Malachi and Hannah Hawkins. Also, he is survived by his sisters, Jean Saul Londeree and Clara Saul Hauldren and husband, Morris.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Beech Grove Baptist Church, Yawkey, with Pastor Oshel Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Memory Gardens, Yawkey, with Masonic graveside rites.

Friends may join the family in celebration of Crever's home going from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Beech Grove Baptist Church, Yawkey, WV 25573; or Shepherd Spinal Center, 2020 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30309.

The family sends special thanks to Pastor and Mrs. Oshel Bell, Kay Cummings, Kevin Saul, Morris Hauldren, Edward Vickers, Danny Davis and the Marmet Health Care staff.

OBITUARY -

Helen Marie "Grammie" Hill Ferrell, 92, of Madison went home be with the Lord on August 21, 2010, at her home, surrounded by her family, after a long illness.

Helen was born to Gertrude and Dennie Edison Hill on April 1918 in Fred.   She graduated from Sherman High School and, after leaving her family, she worked and retired from Ferrell and Hill Insurance Agency in Madison with 23 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Roy and Dennie Lee Hill; her stepbrothers, Bill and Robert Ferrell; stepsister, Tressa Brock; and her sons, Harry Lee and Charles Edward Ferrell.

She is survived by her daughters; Kista Kay (Jim) Cooke and Mary Frances Workman; her six grandchildren. Kitty (Artie) Barker, Kim (Pete) Dickinson, Denise (Todd) Mount, Rex Workman III, Dennie Allen Ferrell and Amanda Ferrell; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and three nephews and their families.

She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Danville.

Over the years, Helen had many friends who meant a great deal to her.  Her family was always the focus of her life and time spent with her was always precious and treasured.

The family would like to thank Ann Hall, Helen's caregiver, for the excellent, loving care she provided, and hospice for their services.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with Pastor John Barker officiating.  Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.

Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

In loving memory of Dennie Lee Hill, 81, of Charleston, formerly of Madison, who went to be with his Heavenly family on Dec. 20, 2006.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. John Barker officiating.  Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison.

Friends may visit at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, before the service.

Dennie Lee Hill was born Oct 8, 1925, in Seth, Boone County, and was a son of the late Dennie Edison and Gertrude Hill, and stepson of the late Robert Ferrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Hadveck Hill; one brother, Roy Hill; and two stepbrothers, Bob Ferrell and William Ferrell.

Dennie served in the United States Navy and was a graduate of West Virginia University.  He was a prominent businessman in Madison, starting the Ferrell & Hill Insurance Agency with his stepfather and developing real estate throughout West Virginia.  He served many years on the board of directors of the Boone National Bank and Key Centurion Bank.  He served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from Boone County for 12 years from 1957 to 1970 and was a 57-year member of the O'Dell Lodge 115, Madison. Dennie's life exemplified Christian principles.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Danville, then the Madison Baptist Church. Before his death, he attended the Charleston Baptist Temple in Charleston and was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Haines City, Fla.

Survivors include his loving wife, Judy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Edison and Nancy Hill of Charleston and David and Dremea Hill of Madison.  He is also survived by grandchildren to whom he was devoted: Helen Elaine Strauss of New York City, Katherine Hill Calloway and husband, Jason, of Asheville, N.C., Dr. David Lee Hill of Chapel Hill, N.C., Nicholas Brannon Hill of Morgantown and Woodrow Hill and wife, Kelli, of Charleston; and three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Wesley and Lila Hill. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Helen Ferrell of Madison; one stepsister, Terressa Brock of Pensacola, Fla.; and many loving nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.

The family wishes to gratefully thank the caregivers for Dennie, including Karla Muncy, Patricia Bragg, Regina Green, Annette Griffy, Susan Paitsel, Penny Adkins, and Kathryn Lambert. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Melvin Vidal and his staff for their advice, patience and kindness throughout Dennie's final days.

After graduating from Scott High School, Louise attended West Virginia University and Alderson Broaddus College.  She graduated from Morris Harvey College.  She was a retired school teacher, having taught at Madison Grade School.  She was a member of the Madison Baptist Church for over 50 years, served on the Madison City Council, and was involved with many other civic and educational organizations, including being past president of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Penny Byrnside of Madison; daughter and son-in-law, Mary George and David Hocevar of Chocowinity, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Lilburn and Deloris Hopkins of Scott Depot; grandchildren, Amy Byrnside Duty of Charlotte, N.C., Beth Byrnside of Madison, John Hocevar of Brooklyn, N.Y., Michael Hocevar of Nottingham, N.H.; special caregivers, Velma Ball, Christina Gunnoe, Tina Akers, Barbara Jarrell, Peggy Peters and Mable Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Stevens Funeral Home, Madison with the Rev. Tom Bias officiating.  Burial will follow at the Boone Memorial Park, Madison.

OBITUARY - Dora Jo Byrnside:

It is with great sadness that we note the passing of our dear mother, Dora Jo Chambers Byrnside.  She died peacefully at her residence in Maryville, Tenn., on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010.

Mother, 90 years young, was born in Danville, on Dec. 19, 1919, and was the daughter of the late Albert B. and Ella Hopkins Chambers. Her sibling, Julia C. Ball, also predeceased her.  Other family predeceasing her include her husband, Fred L.; son, Robert A.; and son-in-law, John B. Thompson.

Mother graduated from Scott High School and Marshall College with the class of '41.  She began her career as a home economist, employed by Appalachian Power Company, in Logan.  A military veteran, she enlisted in the U.S Army (WAC) during World War II and proudly served four years in the South Pacific arena.  Following the war, Mother and our father, a career naval officer, were married in 1946.  They traveled extensively, living in many states and abroad, due to Daddy's military transfers.  After his retirement from the Navy, they settled "back home" in Danville, W.Va., in 1955, where Mother enjoyed life at home raising her four children.  The majority of Mother's teaching career, which began after all children were in school, was spent as librarian at Scott High School, where she nurtured, counseled, and endeared herself to many, many students throughout the years.  Her dedication to her chosen profession and the betterment of all led to the fulfillment of her lifelong dream of making a difference and enriching the lives of others.  Many will remember Mother for her quick wit and never ending desire to help everyone.  Following her retirement from teaching in 1986, she lived in Belleair Bluffs, Fla., and then Maryville, Tenn.

She was a member of Madison United Methodist Church, the Boone County Retired Teachers Association, and Madison Chapter 121 of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She was also a lifelong member of the Madison VFW.

Mother is survived by us, her children, Fred, and wife, Emma, of Danville, W.Va., Ellajo Thompson of Knoxville, Tenn., and Lois Byrnside of Dunedin, Fla.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Russell Byrnside, wife, Lara, and daughter, Madeline, of Georgia, Neil Byrnside, wife, Brandy, and children, Blair, Lauren and Lincoln, of West Virginia, Joelle Mitchell, husband, Harvey, and children, Quinn and Amelia, of Kentucky, Byron Walker, wife, Shannon, and son, Julian of Texas, Juliane Burdette, husband, Jeremy, and daughters, Olivia and Emma, of Alabama, Dr. Valerie Byrnside and fiancé, Mike, of Colorado and Andrea Hill, husband, Keith, and son, Cameron, of Virginia.

Mother's life was an example to others of her love of God, family, friends, church, and country.  We will always love her, cherish our memories of her, and forever hold dear the words she lived by "…for the greatest of these is Love."

There will be a memorial graveside service accompanied by a VFW military service Saturday, April 3 at 11 a.m. at Boone Memorial Cemetery.
