She was a member of Sand Fork Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 35 years.  She was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County.

Also surviving: daughters, Mrs. Florence Egnor of Alkol, Mrs. Ova Miller of Danville; son, Ronald of Michigan; brother, Pearl Woodrum of St. Albans; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sand Fork Baptist Church, Griffithsville, with the Rev. Walton Smith officiating.  Burial will be in Sand Fork Cemetery, Griffithsville.  Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Waneda Smith, Died: Sunday, July 8, 2001

ALBANY -- Waneda P. Smith, 90, of Blue Valley Road, Lancaster, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Sunbridge-Homestead Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster.

Born May 14, 1911, in Griffithsville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Peter and Stella Stone Woodrum.  She was a homemaker and a member of Bible Baptist Church in Lancaster.

She is survived by her husband, Reed Smith; two sons and daughters-in-law, Elroy and Beverly Smith of Lancaster, and Gary and Judy Smith of Rockbridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Mark Lambert of Lancaster; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Thelma Woodrum of Albany.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Elaine Smith; two brothers, Clay and Ray Woodrum; and six sisters, Vesta Tom, Margie Perry, Bonnie Perry, Nella Hughes, Maude Merrill and Elsie Price.

Services will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home in Albany, with Pastor Roy Maple officiating.  Burial will be in Temple Cemetery, Meigs County.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

ATHENS - Irene Ruth McBride, 87, of Athens died Tuesday evening, February 7, 2006 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 1, 1918 in Griffithsville, WV, and was the daughter of the late Rufus and Myrtle Stone Woodrum.

She was raised in Albany and was a graduate of Albany High School.   She moved to Athens shortly thereafter, where she met and married her late husband, Thomas "Ed" McBride. Irene worked for the better part of two decades at Rollerbowl Lanes, coordinating the junior leagues and managing the snack bar. Later in life, she also assisted for several years as an office clerk for the Athens County Fair.   She briefly served as a housemother for Chi Omega Sorority at Ohio University.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas E. McBride Jr. of Cramerton, NC, Jerry A. (Janet) McBride of Rockledge, FL, Jon L. (Karen) McBride of Kearney, NE; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Smith of Pittsboro, NC, Jacqueline McBride of Raleigh, NC, Ed McBride of Huntington Beach, CA, Michelle McBride of Tampa, FL, Eryn and Kyle McBride both of Kearney, NE; two great grandsons, Jacob and Sawyer Smith of Pittsboro, NC; one brother, Ralph Woodrum of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Alva Mason, Madge Harless, Okey Woodrum, Leonard Woodrum, Kesley Woodrum, Orb Woodrum, Donald Woodrum, and Altha Woodrum.

Services will be Saturday at 11 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. John Longard officiating. Burial will be at Athens Memory Gardens.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 PM.

Silmer Ray Green, 85, of Hansford died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at home after a long illness.   He was a former employee of Burnwell Coal Co., a member of the UMW and Paint Creek Church of Jesus Christ and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving: sons, Earnest of Hansford, with whom he made his home, Clyde of Witcher, Ray R. of Holly Grove; sister, Erslie Griffis of Washborn, Mo.; brothers, Joseph Aule Green of Gretna, Va., George Leslie Green of Twilight, Wattie Lee Green of Racine; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pryor Funeral Home, East Bank, with the Rev. James B. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, with military rites by VFW Post 8366, Gauley Bridge. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 30, 1925, to the late James H. and Letha Holstein Miller.  He was a member of Rock Creek Church of Christ, a retired truck driver from Madison Ready Mix and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Bessie J. Miller; two sons and their wives, Eddie A. and Jane E. Miller of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Steven H. and Donna J. Miller of Lubeck, W.Va.; one daughter and her husband, Karen and John R. McCain of Hinton, W.Va.; one sister, Ina Shipley of Portsmouth, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, W.Va., with Minister Ray Beadnell officiating.  Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Foster.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Handley Funeral Home, Danville.
