Services for Wade Oldham, 56, of Barlow will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morrow Funeral Home in La Center. The Rev. Tom Camp will officiate, with burial in Barlow Cemetery.

Mr. Oldham died at 5 p.m. Friday at the Barlow Bottoms.

He was a Marine veteran of Vietnam and a member of Barlow Baptist Church.

Surviving are his parents, John and Dorothy Dodson Oldham; one son, Eric Oldham of Barlow; one daughter, Holley Dunker of Barlow; one sister, June Ann Toomes of Barlow; and three grandchildren.

James M. Asbury 1945 - 2007

Mickey was born October 15, 1945 to James and Joyce Asbury in Altus, Oklahoma.

In 1953, with Mickey in tow at the young age of eight, the Asbury family moved to a new house just built on Bedford Drive in Oildale.

Mickey attended Standard School, then Highland Elementary when it opened its doors in 1954 and returned to Standard to complete Junior High School in 1959.   At Standard School he was a member of Mr. Henry's Junior Optimist Club where only the most popular boys were invited to become members.

His father, Jim, who passed away in 2001, worked for Standard Oil so Mickey was able to spend many long hot summer days at Standard Plunge on China Grade Loop.

Mickey attended North High School, graduating in 1963.   At North, Mickey put his Standard Plunge experience to work and won several South Yosemite League Diving Championships.   In his senior year he was voted best looking boy of the senior class, the highest honor all boys wanted because the girls are the ones that vote.

Mickey attended Bakersfield College and met the love of his life, Bea Livermore, whom he married on July 2, 1965.

Mick went to work for Pacific Bell where he enjoyed 37 years of service, retiring in 2006.

Mickey is survived by the love of his live Bea; his boys, Darin of Thousand Oaks, and Tyson of Bakersfield and their wives, Alison and Carrie; 3 grandsons, Zachary, Matthew and Tyson James (T.J.); his mother, Joyce; sister, Paula; brother, Dean and his wife, Jackie; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mickey had many passions in life including hunting, bass fishing where he competed in many tournaments, equestrian activities including reining, team pinning and trail riding with Bea.

Mickey's greatest passion however was spending quality time with his extended family and friends.

The illness that caused Mickey's death was a neuro-muscular disease that in two years robbed him of his robust body and the ability to do all of the fun physical things that he enjoyed most.   Yet despite those setbacks, Mickey remained positive and determined and very committed to overcome his disease.

He always greeted family, friends and strangers with a warm smile and tenderness.   He left us all with a warm heart and a smile.   He touched many lives and will be greatly missed, but God will take good care of him.

Visitation will be held Saturday and Sunday, September 22nd and 23rd, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Mission Family Mortuary, 531 California Ave.   A celebration of life will be held graveside at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., Monday, September 24th, at 11:00 a.m.

Matt Clay Chisholm, 36, of 4785-A Worden Drive, died March 1, 1995 at his home.

A native of Dumas, Texas, he was the husband of Karen Helton Chisholm and the son of Deborah Ann Clayton Chisholm of Spartenburg and the late Alton Jennings Chisholm Jr.   He was a graduate of Dorman High School and attended Spartanburg Methodist College.   He had been employed as procuct manager for Carolina Rubber Rolls in Inman for 17 years.

Also surviving are one daughter, Carman Renee Chisholm of Spartanburg; one brother, Joe Chisholm of Spartenburg; and one sister Ginger Chisholm Miller of Greenwood.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by Dr. Kirk Neely. Buriel will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

John P. Compton, 48, pleaded guilty to the murder of Karen Helton Chisholm, 46, moments before his trial was scheduled to begin.  He will serve every day of Circuit Judge John Few’s 30-year prison sentence.

“Mr. Compton is in poor health and odds are good that he will die in prison.” Chisholm’s sister and her daughter appeared in court for the guilty plea. The sister, Mitzi Helton, told Judge Few that Chisholm was well-loved by her family and she is missed dearly.
