Leonard Schafer, 80, of Garden City died Jan. 5, 2010, at Hospice House in Odessa.   The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born June 1, 1929, in Garden City to Maud and Ben Schafer.   He grew up in Garden City and graduated from Garden City High School.   He married Elzan Tindol on Aug. 13, 1955, in Lovington, N.M.   She preceded him in death Oct. 9, 1999.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.   He owned S&W Chemical Company in Coahoma.   He also ranched in Glasscock County.   He was a lifetime resident of Howard and Glasscock counties, except for the last seven years, when he lived in Midland.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda Worley of Brownwood and Mackie Schafer of Lake Brownwood; three sons, Ben Schafer and wife, Leisa, of New Braunfels, Link Schafer and wife, Marcy, of Colorado City, and Steve Schafer and wife, Shelley, of Lake Brownwood; fiancée, Edith Ross of Midland; one brother, Charlie Schafer and wife, Barbara, of Garden City; one sister, Dora Lee Newell and husband, J.C., of Garden City; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Ronald Lynn "Ron" MARKS, 56, of Louisville, born January 22, 1953, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at his residence.   He worked as a maintenance professional, and was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church.   Preceding him death were his parents, James Kenton and Martha Willett Marks.   Survivors include his wife, Judy Burns Marks; a daughter, Amanda Lynn Marks; a son, Adam William Marks; a sister, Patricia Devine (Lloyd); brothers, Daniel (Pam), Thomas (Kathy) and Patrick (Barbara) Marks; and his in-laws, William M. and Anne Burns.   His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Monday, July 6, 2009 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.   Visitation will be 4 - 8 P.M.
