Funera1 Services for Mrs. Rebecca Williams Held Wednesday

   Mrs. Rebecca Louise Smith Williams passed away Sunday, March 14 at 1:10 a.m. at the Beckett Nursing Home in Camp Point.  She suffered a stroke on February 11th which resulted in paralysis on her left side from which she did not recover.
   Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in the Meaders Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Robert Yates.  Burial was in the South Side Cemetery.  She was a member of the Christian Church.
   The pallbearers were Walter Geiker, George Geortz, William Goertz, O. W. Morgan, Herbert Shank and Edwin Abel.
   Mrs. Williams was born Rebecca Louise Henning near Fowler, Ill. on July 16, 1867.  Her parents were Christopher and Anna Schaderberg Henning.  Her mother died while young, leaving her father to bring up Rebecca and her three sisters. Only one now survives, Mrs. Augusta Humke who lives in Camp Point.
   Rebecca Louise was married on October 30, 1888 to Charles H. Smith and for several years lived or a farm near Columbus, Ill.  They moved to Clayton in December, 1900.  He died in 1939.  On September 28, 1949 she married Joe Williams.
   To her union with C. H. Smith, were born nine children, one of whom Lela, preceded her mother in death.  The other eight are Roscoe Smith of Quincy, Stanley Smith of Urbana, Dick Smith of Clayton, Earl Smith of Wellesley, Mass., Otto Smith of North Bergen, New Jersey, Chester Smith of Clayton, Dorothy Garner of Lansing, Michigan and John Smith of Whittier, California.
   There are seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.  There are also seven step-children.

Charles H. Smith Dies    Funeral Services Held Saturday

   Charles H., Smith passed away suddenly last Wednesday evening, following a brief illness.  Early Wednesday morning Mr. Smith suffered a stroke of paralysis and died that evening.
   Funeral services were held at the Christian church Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with the Rev. Woodburn officiating.  Mrs. J. Ben Jefferson sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Lloyd Coffman.  The pallbearers were:  Walter Gieker, Albert Beckman, Marion Hogan, John Vollbrach, J. Ben Jefferson and Dick Marshall.  Among those from a distance attending the funeral were:  Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Smith and daughters and the Rev. Stephen Fisher, of Urbana, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Boyer, of Quincy, John and Carl Summers, Mrs. Augusta Pieper, Mrs. Mary Williams and Andy Mason of Camp Point, and Will Henning and family, of Coatsburg.
   Charles Henry Smith, son of George and Mary Smith, was born June 27, 1866 at Columbus, Ill., and departed this life November 29 at the age of 73 years, five months and two days.  He was married to Rebecca Louisa Henning on October 30, 1888.  To this union nine children were born.  One daughter, Mrs. Lola Abel, preceded him in death.  He is survived by his widow and the following children:  Roscoe M. of Quincy, Stanley C. of Urbana, Dick W. of Clayton, Earl L. of Boston, Mass., Otto R. of New York City, Chester H. of Clayton, Mrs. Dorothy Garner of Lansing, Mich., and John H. of San Diego, Calif.  He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Williams of Camp Point, one brother, Henry Smith of New London, Mo., seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
   Mr. Smith made his home in Clayton and vicinity for the last thirty-nine years.  He was an active business man for 18 years and was always vitally interested in the community welfare.  He was baptized in the Clayton Christian church and for several years took an active part in all work of the church.
   He spent his entire life In the interest of his family and one of the greatest pleasures in his last days was seeing his great grandchildren.  He and Mrs. Smith celebrated their golden wedding anniversary a year ago on the 30th of October.

OBITUARY
    CLAYTON, Ill. - Dick W. Smith, 86, a retired farmer of near here, died at 4:15 a.m. in the Golden Good Shepherd Home where he had been a patient since 1974.
    Mr. Smith was born in Columbus Township Feb. 27, 1892, a son of Charles H. and Rebecca Henning Smith.  He married Anna Abel Oct. 9, 1927.  She died in 1960.  He married Claudena DeWitt.  She died Feb. 5, 1978.  He was a veteran of World War I and was a graduate of Clayton High School.  He was a member of Camp Point Christian Church and the Camp Point Post of the American Legion.
    Surviving are two brothers Stanley and Chester of Clayton; and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Garner of Tampa, Fla.  He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
    Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Hamilton Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Herb Nobles.  Burial will be in the South Side Cemetery.  The family suggests memorials be made to the Golden Good Shepherd Home.

OBITUARY - Earl L Smith:
    HENDERSONVILLE - Earl L. Smith, 76, of 1910 Haywood Road, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home.
    He was a native of Clayton, Ill., a former resident of Wellesley, Mass. and moved to Hendersonville three months ago.  He was a retired president of Babson Reports, a financial information bulletin.  He attended the University of Illinois, Babson College and Chicago University where he receives his M. A. degree.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Thomas Shepherd Memorial Chapel, with Dr. J. Garland Winkler officiating.
    Burial will be in Southside Cemetery in Clayton, Ill., Wednesday.
    Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Hazel McKee Smith of Hendersonville; six brothers, Roscoe of Quincy, Ill., Otto of Union City, N.J., Chester and Richard of Clayton, Ill., Stanley Smith of Urbana, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Henry Garner of Tampa, Fla.
    The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Attend Visitation - For Otto R. Smith

    Mr. and- Mrs. Clyde Moore attended visitation at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton Sunday afternoon for Otto R, Smith, 76, of Union City, N.J., a former Clayton resident.   Mr. Smith passed away Wednesday, April 3, 1974 in Hoboken, N.J. hospital. A native of Columbus township, he was born Sept. 11, 1898, a son of Charles H. and Rebecca Henning Smith.   He was a veteran of World War I and II and a member of the VFW.
    His wife, the former Margaret Lawler, to whom he was married July 12, 1958, in New Jersey, survives with five brothers, Roscoe of Camp Point, Stanley of Urbana, Vic of Mt. Sterling, Chester of Clayton, and John of Whittier, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Garner of Tampa, Fla.   He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother, Earl L. Smith, a former Augusta resident.

Otto R. Smith

    A veteran of both World Wars, Otto R. Smith, 76, of 3415 Hudson Ave., Union City, who died Wednesday at St. Mary Hospital, Hoboken, will be buried tomorrow in Clayton, Ohio.
    Born in Clayton, Mr. Smith had lived in the North Hudson area 35 years.   He was a former resident of North Bergen.
    Mr. Smith was a retired mechanic from the Roger Painting Co.   An active member of several Masonic organizations he was associated with Salaam Temple of Livingston, Palisades Lodge 84, and was a member of the New Jersey Consistory of Shriners.   Mr. Smith was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Saldarini Post, of Union City.
    The Leber Funeral Home, Union City, is in charge of arrangements.
