Notes for Frederick Henning:

This Henning family documentation is dedicated to Myra Evans Johnson whose compilation of family reunions between 1930 and 1933 provided the foundation of this effort.  Her introduction in 1988 starts —

The early Henning family came to Adams County from the old country (Germany) in the year 1836.  The father and mother had with them seven children, the youngest, Henrietta, who was about six years old at the time.  Following is the information compiled at the reunions between 1930 and 1933:

  1.  Fred Henning---died in the Civil War unmarried
  2.  Andrew Henning---died in Civil War unmarried
  3.  Christ Henning married Anna Schanderberg (4 children)
  4.  John Henning married Dora Erdman (9 children)
  5.  Henry Henning married Eliza Bidle (7 children)
  6.  Martin Henning married Katherine Englehardt (8 children)
  7.  Henrietta Henning married J. A. Lohse (12 children.)
[Note: With the resources of the internet, web sites, and online libraries, I was able to find that Gottfried (became Frederick), Catherine, and their 7 children arrived in New Orleans about Oct 26, 1844 on the ship Washington.  Those resources have helped confirm the accuracy of Myra’s work and provide information to build on her work.  Comments, additions and corrections are appreciated and can be emailed to j_cberg@yahoo.com. Notes for Henry A. Lohse:
[Notes: I believe Henry Lohse is the J. A. Lohse, husband of Henrietta Henning, listed in the Henning Family Tree compiled by Myra Evans Johnson.  Henry's wife shown in the 1900 census is Rebecca.   They had married 17 years (abt 1883).  The youngest child is 20, thus, Rebecca is not the mother of the children.  She must be the 2nd wife of Henry Lohse and his first wife, Henrietta, died between 1880 and 1883.  Myra's list has Mary Lohse and Lizzie Lohse, I believe this is one person Mary Elizabeth Lohse who was referred to by both names.  I believe Ed and Lillian are twins.  I have not located Edward beyond 1880.  William is missing in the 1880 census, so he may have died between 1870 and 1880.  I also have not located either Anna or Emma in any census.  They may have been born and died between census. - Jim Carlberg.]
