Genealogy Researcher, Author, & Speaker

I am a native of West-Central Illinois, and was raised on a grain and cattle farm in Hancock County where many of my ancestors began settling in the 1850s. I attended high school in the same building as my parents and went to junior high school in the building where my grandmother went to high school.

I have a master's degree in mathematics from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois (the same college my Mother attended). I have taken post-graduate courses in education and mathematics. I am on the mathematics faculty at Carl Sandburg College, a community college in West-Central Illinois.

I got started in genealogy when my younger brother had to bring a 4-generation family tree to school. I wanted to know more (read-- "I was nosy") and it's been "uphill" from there.

I have researched my own family for over twenty years and have also actively researched my children's ancestry as well. The bulk of this ancestry is centered in the American Midwest and points east. Many of my children's ancestors were post-1850 European immigrants from a variety of countries, including: Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, and Switzerland. There are also lines from Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, and Maryland. By ancestry, I am one-half Ostfriesen. I have spent numerous hours in local courthouses, archives and libraries working on these families.

Summer 2006 - Computational Sensorimotor Systems Laboratory (CSSL) at the University of Maryland as part of the NSF-funded Maryland Engineering Research Internship Teams (MERIT). Worked on the design of a microcontroller that routed address-event spikes between 4 different neural chips, simulating the complex connectivity patterns of a neural system. The router also allowed for monitoring of input address-events over USB 2.0 at a rate of 150k events/second. The router will be used by CSSL in experiments such as modeling the different cortical areas in the brain of an echolocation bat. Mentor: Dr. Horiuchi.

Price II, 52, of Minneapolis, died Feb. 16, 2007, at his home of a short illness due to cancer. Born Nov. 8, 1954, he was the son of Robert L. and Donna Price. On June 22, 1980, he married Mary Rita Zachman. Mr. Price was a graduate of Union High School in Biggsville, Ill., University of Minnesota and William Morris College of Law at St. Paul, Minn. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jacob and Aaron; his mother; one brother, Paul L. Price; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his father. Services were Feb. 21 at Lakewood Chapel in Minneapolis. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you haven't heard the great news, here it is!

Kristin & Gregg had a little (well pretty big) BOY yesterday at about 3:30p.m. They went into the hospital around 9:00a.m. Wednesday and 6 ½ hours later she delivered a handsome baby boy! They named him Brock Thomas. She said he has a head full of hair. Brock is 21 inches long and weighs 8 lbs. 8 oz. Everyone's healthly and as happy as they can be!!!! Yeah, I'm an aunt!
