(1)  Although they came from the same place, they did not know each other in Germany.  Henri came to America in 1855.  His party disembarked at New Orleans, Louisiana, 15 Aug 1855.  The followed the Mississippi River up North.  Part of the passengers settled with an established German settlement at St. Louis Missouri.  Others con on to Quincy, Illinois.  It, too, was a known German Settlement.  Henri went overland to Golden, Illinois, where there was a fairly large German settlement.  He was taken in by the Herman Behrens family.  He married their daughter Trentja.  They started farming in this vicinity and acquired much good farmland.

Trentje Behrens came as a child with her parents to America.  They disembarked in Maine. The records do not show the exact location.  This was on I July 1849.  They came, overland and were among the first settlers at Golden, Illinois.  They helped establish the German Lutheran Church and school there.

Much of the above information came from the family Bible of Trentje Behrens Sartorius and Henri H. Sartorius.  All printing is in German.  Many entries are in German as early as 1837.  It is now completed and up to date.  There is no date of printing in the Bible.  The Bible is now (1989) in the hands of Elaine Virginia Price Nelson (1912-?) and then is to go to her daughter Mary Ann Nelson (1950-?).
